Who can request online counseling
Eligible clients physically located in Minnesota during their sessions can ask about virtual counseling with Carl Mathews Jr. Services are online; Mathews Family Counseling LLC has physical offices only in Ohio. Discuss your needs, age where relevant, and whether online care is appropriate during the initial call.
Ohio license and Compact privilege
Carl holds an Ohio Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license and an active Counseling Compact privilege for Minnesota. The privilege authorizes practice in the remote state through the Compact; it is not a separate Minnesota-issued counselor license. Tell the practice if your location changes before a session.
Counseling around everyday concerns
Support may address anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger and emotional reactivity, stress, relationship concerns, parenting, and life transitions. Sessions are collaborative and can include CBT, DBT skills, solution-focused work, mindfulness, and acceptance-based strategies according to your goals.
Prepare for a 50-minute video session
Choose a private location, a reliable internet connection, and a device suitable for video. Ask for connection instructions before the first appointment. The therapist will discuss your physical location, privacy, and what to do if the connection is interrupted.
Confirm insurance before scheduling
An insurance plan listed on this website is not a guarantee of coverage for telehealth in Minnesota. Compact privileges do not determine an insurer’s network or reimbursement rules. Call with your plan information to review payment options before scheduling; standard self-pay sessions are $125.
Plan for the time-zone difference
The practice lists appointment hours in Eastern Time. Minnesota uses Central Time, one hour earlier. Confirm the time on your appointment instructions, particularly when arranging an appointment around work, school, or caregiving.
